Needless and Pointless Prosecution
Another day and another criminally exploited youngster acquitted by the Court
Another day and another criminally exploited youngster acquitted by the Court in a completely needless and pointless prosecution (R v AVW).
There was a plethora of evidence of his vulnerability including medical, and of his exploitation, as recorded by police, social services and education, including a positive Conclusive Grounds NRM decision, all of which I was able to highlight in an Expert Report.
Once again, there was no police investigation into the circumstances of his arrest which led to their submission of a NRM referral or re-examination of the proceedings by the Crown Prosecution Service, who could and should have followed the non-punishment of victims principle.
15 years old when the exploitation began, 17 when acquitted, 2 years lost and now a life to rebuild.
